Heather Barron Bio Heather Barron is the newest addition to the Wonderdog team! Heather currently runs the Pet Hotel and is available for individual dog training sessions. Heather is a certified biologist and first aid instructor from Kelowna , BC . In 2005 she started working as a canine fitness trainer at Top Dog Kennels to put herself through university at UBC-Okanagan. After graduation she spent some time in Nelson, BC working as a veterinary assistant and volunteering at the local animal shelter with the original intention of applying to vet school. Next, Heather took a certificate program in Animal Welfare through Thompson Rivers University . It was at this time that Heather's love for strong breed dogs sparked her to change career paths and become a professional dog trainer. After signing up for Ben's Professional Dog Trainers Program, Heather adopted her dog from Top Dog Kennels, packed all her belongings into her truck and moved to The Island. The rest is history! Heather holds a professional dog trainers diploma and a current pet first aid certification. Heather's short term goals include traveling to Mexico to help with a spay/neuter clinic and training for rescued street dogs. She also has plans to conduct temperament testing for puppies through Respect-A-Bull dog rescue to ensure all puppies find the right home. Heather's long term goals are to make a good living working with dogs, start up a strong breed dog rescue and travel the province doing humane education seminars with special focus on Breed Specific Legislation and animal cruelty.
